MIKSHA: Mission for Integrated Keeping of Safe & Hygienic Accommodation
Background
The MIKSHA Rating System has been developed to ensure that long-stay accommodations such as Paying Guest facilities, Hostels, and Co-Living Spaces meet defined benchmarks of safety, hygiene, comfort, and transparency.
The demand for PG/hostel accommodation has grown rapidly across Indian cities. While this has improved availability, it has also created uncertainty for parents, students, and professionals about the quality and safety of such facilities. MIKSHA Certification addresses this by providing a uniform, credible framework through which properties can be rated as Silver, Gold, or Platinum Certified.
For details of the complete evaluation framework, please refer to the MIKSHA Rating Manual.
Intent
The intent of MIKSHA Certification is to:
Provide assurance to tenants and families about the safety and hygiene of accommodations.
Establish transparent benchmarks for owners/operators to follow.
Create a nationally recognized directory of certified PGs and hostels.
Encourage continuous improvement and professional management in this sector.
